Breast cancer, the most common cancer worldwide, is the leading cause of cancer mortality in Ghanaian women. In Ghana, most of the women affected with breast cancer are below the age of 50. They also come to the healthcare centres at more advanced stages (III and IV) of their illness. This is not only due to the remote location of villages making access to cancer screenings a challenge, but also because stigma, fear and denial. This is the reason why Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City has launched its BE Health initiative to support Breast Care International Ghana in the fight against breast cancer.

The initiative was launched on 8 March 2023 with a warm-hearted event that brought together the President and founder of Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, and breast cancer survivors, guests and hotel management. Health is indeed a shared value between business and local communities. Corporations can actively contribute to the health of its employees’ communities, as well as they can have a positive impact on employees’ social environment.

By partnering with Breast Care International, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City contributes to intervene upstream which is vital to alleviate stigma through education and early detection. Many lives can be saved.
